12th Steering Committee Meeting on the Energy & Industry Sector Strategic Qatarization Plan
The 12th Steering Committee Meeting on the Energy & Industry Sector Strategic Qatarization Plan was held at the Doha Sheraton Hotel, Al-Rayyan Hall, on 12 October 2004. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Essa Rashed Al-Kaabi, the Director of Administration in QP and attended by the administration managers and human resources managers of the Energy & Industry Sector.
The main themes of the meeting were to present and discuss:
1- The revisions to the Energy & Industry Qatarization website on the Internet and its value to inform and attract Qataris to this important Sector.
2- The steps and timetable required to prepare the next bi-annual Qatarization reports of each participating company.
3- An outline proposed for a new annual meeting in the second quarter of 2005, to follow up the execution of the Qatarization Five-year Plan that will be held under the patronage of H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Energy and Industry.
4- And finally, the results of the recruitment campaign for graduates from secondary schools that will be enrolled in the different programs at the Corporate Training Department of Qatar Petroleum.
The meeting concluded following a discussion on points raised by member companies on issues of mutual concern and interest.
QP Presents their Qatarization System
Representatives from QP's Human Resources department presented their Qatarization planning system (QPSIM) to an international Manpower Planning workshop organized by the World Bank and Qatar's Planning Council. Their bi-lingual and multi-speaker presentation explained Qatarization in the Energy and Industry Sector, the importance of a planning system, and gave a live demonstration of this sophisticated software developed by Qatar Petroleum.
QP Donates QR 550,000 to Educational Activities
Qatar Petroleum has donated 550,000 Qatari riyals in contribution to two Education Ministry projects, it was announced on November 22.
A check for the amount was handed by the acting Manager of QP Public Relations Department Mohammad Mubarak Al-Jattal Al-Maadheed to the Education Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al-Dussari at QP headquarters in Doha.
The donation was made at the instructions of the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah to encourage and support remarkable educational projects in the country with a view to giving Qatari youth a better chance of contribution to the under way process underway of building up and development under the wise leadership of H.H the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
65 Qataris take part in Training Course
A group of 65 Qatari nationals have completed a six-month clerical preparation training program organised by Qatar Petroleum in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation and conducted at the Northern Area Hospital (HMC) facility at Al-Khor.
The group consisting of eight males and 57 females are to take up positions as receptionists, record keeping and secretarial positions in the newly completed HMC facility at Al-Khor.
The intensive program provided the trainees the opportunity to upgrade their skills in English office administration, computing, Arabic and English document composition.
A closing ceremony was held Al Khor to mark the occasion. The event was attended by Ibrahim Assad Jamal, Assistant Manager, Administration and Services and Khalid Al-Mahmoud, Human Resources Manager.
