|Under the auspices of H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum, the Eighth Bi-Annual Review Meeting of the Five Year Strategic Qatarization Plan was held at the Ritz-Carlton Doha hotel on July 11. |
The objective of the meeting was to review the application of the plan within Qatar Petroleum, its subsidiaries and affiliated companies in the energy and industry sector. The meeting was attended by directors of Qatar Petroleum, general managers of subsidiaries, general managers of QASCO, RLPC, and QEWC in addition to the managers of Dolphin Energy and Oryx, who recently joined.
In his opening speech H.E. the Second Deputy Premier addressed the challenges facing the Qatarization Strategy in the coming years, which has so far recorded a significant increase in the employment of Qatari citizens in the energy and industry sector.
H.E. Al-Attiyah reiterated that the main objective was the recruitment and retention of qualified and competent Qataris for permanent positions to support to the business requirements. He said he expected participating companies to provide well-thought plans regarding Qatarization to meet the challenges expected in 2005 and beyond.
“The urge to meet the 50% Qatarization must be qualified by quality and I encourage each company to comply with, Quality Qatarization,” H.E. Al-Attiyah said.
He said the retention of valuable and experienced expatriates will add a vital role towards ensuring knowledge retention in business ventures.
H.E. Al-Attiyah noted the increasing interest in the Strategic Qatarization Plan since its inception and anticipated it will increase further in the future.
H.E. Al-Attiyah gave support to the idea of a career fair or exhibition to be held along with the next annual meeting in co-operation with those parties or organizations involved with the development of human resources in Qatar.
