   24th Strategic Qatarization Plan Steering Committee meeting

The Energy and Industry Sector conducted the 24th meeting of its Strategic Qatarization Plan Steering Committee at the Diplomatic Club, Doha on Thursday, 11 November 2010. The meeting was attended by senior administrative and human resource officials who represent the 40 companies.

Committee Chairman, Essa Rashed Al-Kaabi, convened the meeting to discuss and share matters of immediate importance to the ongoing progress of Qatarization in the Sector.

Committee members received a brief from Dr. Ibrahim S. Al-Naimi, Chair, Community College Steering Committee who outlined the status and future plans of the newly opened Community College Qatar (CCQ) and how, through its programs for Qatari students, it will help prepare qualified Qatari human resources to the Energy and Industry Sector. Dr. Al-Naimi was accompanied by Dr. Rachel Awad and Dr. Cheryl Sterling Associate Deans at CCQ. Mr. Leon Van Der Hyde, Manager Health Safety and Environment at Qatar Petroleum's Ras Laffan Industrial City shared details of the QP/Ras Laffan Emergency Safety College which is scheduled to officially open in December 2011. Progress reviews were also presented from the team leaders of three teams working on key issues affecting Qatarization in the Sector covering education/attraction, managing expectations and women in the workforce. In addition, statistical analysis of the Sector's Qatari recruitment in 2009,  and the enhancements to the existing Qatari manpower database used by Sector companies were shared with Steering Committee members. The Chairman closed the meeting thanking all for their participation and noted the information gained will assist companies in their Qatarization drive, and help prepare for the 2011 Annual Qatarization Review Meeting with His Excellency, Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Premier, Minister of Energy and Industry.
