Doha, 27 August 2008 - Qatar Petroleum has concluded its Summer Training Programs for both high school and university students.
This year Qatar Petroleum’s Summer Training has successfully attracted more than 510 students in addition to a number of students attending Summer Training in other companies in the Energy and Industry Sector.
The Programs, ranging from 4-6 weeks and offering financial incentives during this period, provide students with a valuable insight into career opportunities in the Sector and gives employers the opportunity to assess potential recruits, improve the fit, and accelerate the period of development.
The Programs are designed for Qatari students (male and female) to take full advantage of the summer holiday to properly plan their future career. Programs include on-the-job training, computer training, and English Language. In addition, we have introduced the opportunity to participate in a TOEFL program.
The objective is to provide students with company exposure to help them bridge the gap between academics and real life application to ensure a smooth transition from school, college, or university to the workplace.
The Summer Training Programs for young Qatari students will continue as an important part of the Strategic Qatarization Plan within the Energy and Industry Sector. They are organized in coordination with the educational institutions as our strategic partner.
The Sector continues to promote itself to a wider public. Recently, the mobile recruitment office initiative gave the opportunity for companies to inform potential recruits about programs for high school graduates through Qatar Petroleum’s Corporate Training Center. This initiative will continue in 2008 and beyond.
